The BMI livery is a rarity for Gemini in the 1:400 scale, but, as ever, this is a finely detailed, stunning die-cast replica. During the 1980s Airbus was becoming a reputable alternative to the popular American aircraft manufacturers. Airbus realised that in order to succeed they would have to offer longer range aircraft than their short and medium range A320 and A300 airliners, the A330 and A340 were developed in the early 1990s and the twin engined, medium range A330-300 first flew on 2nd November 1992 with Air Inter (later merged into Air France) was the first to operate the type.Both the A330 and A340 operate with Airbus’ advanced technology ‘fly by wire’ system.
